Galvanized Roofing Nails With Umbrella Head and Washer Options

Our roofing nails secure corrugated steel sheets, metal panels, asphalt felt, fibre cement boards and timber roof structures. Made from low-carbon steel Q195/Q235 (equivalent to ASTM A36), they are electro-galvanised or hot-dip galvanised for outdoor anti-corrosion performance. Available in umbrella head with smooth, twist or ring shank; EPDM rubber washers are optional for waterproof sealing.

Roofing nails are designed for fastening corrugated steel sheets, metal panels, asphalt felt, fiber cement boards, and timber roofing structures. They are manufactured from low-carbon steel (Q195 / Q235, equivalent to ASTM A36 grade) and coated with either electro-galvanized or hot-dip galvanized finish for outdoor corrosion resistance. Common variants include umbrella‑head nails, twist‑shank, ring‑shank, and washer‑equipped types. Lengths typically range from 40 mm to 80 mm (1.5″–3″), with shank diameters from 2.8 mm to 4.2 mm (BWG 12–8, with BWG9 and BWG10 being the most common).

Applications

  • Fixing corrugated steel roofing sheets to timber purlins or steel frames.
  • Installing metal panels for sheds, warehouses, garages, and agricultural buildings.
  • Securing roofing felt, waterproofing layers, or fibre‑cement sheets where a broad head prevents pull‑through.
  • General construction and repair work requiring high withdrawal resistance in wood.

Recommendation: For coastal or high‑humidity environments, choose hot‑dip galvanized nails with EPDM washers. For hardwoods (oak, jarrah), pre‑drilling is advised to avoid bending.

Standard Stock Sizes

BWG9 × 2″ (3.76 × 50 mm) – Umbrella Head, Smooth Shank

A popular all‑round nail for attaching corrugated sheets to timber battens. The large umbrella head distributes pressure evenly, preventing sheet deformation.

  • Diameter: 3.76 mm (BWG9)
  • Length: 50 mm (2″)
  • Head: Umbrella
  • Shank: Smooth (twist shank available on request)
  • Coating: Galvanized (electro or HDG)
  • Packing: 50 kg carton or 1,000 pcs inner box
  • Best for: Light to medium roof sheeting, farm sheds, and general maintenance.

BWG9 × 2‑1/2″ (3.76 × 65 mm) – Twist Shank with EPDM Washer

This longer nail features a twisted shank for superior grip in timber and a pre‑fitted EPDM rubber washer to seal the hole against rain ingress – ideal for exposed roofs.

  • Diameter: 3.76 mm (BWG9)
  • Length: 65 mm (2‑1/2″)
  • Head: Umbrella
  • Shank: Twist (ring shank also available)
  • Washer: EPDM rubber (black or grey)
  • Coating: Hot‑dip galvanized (recommended)
  • Packing: 25 kg carton with plastic inner bag
  • Best for: Galvanized sheet roofs, timber purlins, garden sheds, and temporary structures exposed to wind and rain.

BWG10 × 2″ (3.40 × 50 mm) – Ring Shank, Plain Head

The ring shank provides excellent withdrawal resistance without the need for a washer, making it a cost‑effective choice for interior or sheltered applications.

  • Diameter: 3.40 mm (BWG10)
  • Length: 50 mm (2″)
  • Head: Large flat or umbrella
  • Shank: Ring shank
  • Coating: Electro‑galvanized (HDG optional)
  • Packing: 50 kg carton, custom label accepted

BWG10 × 2‑1/2″ (3.40 × 65 mm) – Umbrella Head, Optional Shank

A medium‑heavy nail offering extra penetration depth for thicker timber supports. Available with smooth, twist, or ring shank to suit different holding requirements.

  • Diameter: 3.40 mm (BWG10)
  • Length: 65 mm (2‑1/2″)
  • Head: Umbrella
  • Shank: Smooth / twist / ring (specify when ordering)
  • Coating: Electro or hot‑dip galvanized
  • Packing: 25 kg carton or 500 pcs inner box
  • Best for: Corrugated roofing, felt layers, wood structures, and industrial roof installations where longer fixation is needed.

BWG11 × 1‑1/2″ (3.05 × 40 mm) – Short Smooth Shank

A lightweight nail for thin sheets and light timber. The wide head prevents pull‑through but is not intended for heavy structural loads.

  • Diameter: 3.05 mm (BWG11)
  • Length: 40 mm (1‑1/2″)
  • Head: Umbrella or flat
  • Shank: Smooth (ring available upon request)
  • Coating: Galvanized
  • Packing: 25 kg bulk carton or small retail boxes
  • Best for: Thin roofing sheets, asphalt felt, small roof repairs, and light woodwork.

Note: For heavy‑gauge steel sheets or high‑wind areas, we recommend longer sizes (≥ 65 mm) and hot‑dip galvanized ring‑shank nails.

Ordering Notes

  • Custom lengths, shank types, washers, coating thickness, and packing can be produced per project requirements.
  • For outdoor applications exposed to frequent rain, hot‑dip galvanized nails with EPDM washers are strongly advised.
  • Sample orders are welcome for quality and size verification before mass production.
